IRS Publishes Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

On August 21, 2025, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the IRS issued a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to address the accelerated termination of several energy-related provisions under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (the “Bill”).

The FAQs provide guidance on various energy credits and deductions—both residential and commercial—that are set to expire under the Bill, along with their respective termination dates.

Key business-related provisions include:

  • Qualified Commercial Clean Vehicle Credit (Section 45W): this credit will no longer be available for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025.

  • Energy-Efficient Commercial Buildings Deduction (Section 179D): the deduction will not be allowed for any property whose construction begins after June 30, 2026.
